FAQ Henné Color

Can Henné Color henna hair colours cover grey hair?

The Henné Color henna hair colours are gentle products free from oxidants, ammonia and p-phenylenediamine (PPD), the hair fibre is not bleached. The resulting colour will depend on your original hair colour, whether natural or coloured. Depending on the amount and distribution of grey hair, the hair will have different coloured highlights for a natural effect that will improve by subsequent colouring. The resulting colour will be more intense every time you colour your hair.

What are the differences between the Henné Poudre and Henné Crème colouring products from the Henné Color range?

The 2 different formulations will allow you to customise your colour with a very natural result.

Do you require a shorter developing time? A very simple application? The colouring cream will therefore be more suited to your needs. Our Henné Crème colouring cream is a 2-in-1 product as it is a colour and a conditioner. No preparation is needed, just simply apply it to your hair and leave for 20 to 40 minutes depending on the desired effect. Our Henné Crème colours will hide your first grey hair and may cover up to 100% grey hair depending on the selected shade. You can use our colour chart and product information sheet to help you choose your hair colour.

Do you require a plant dye? A simple preparation by adding hot water? A higher henna concentration? The Henné Poudre hair colour will therefore be more suited to your needs. Our Henné Poudre colours start being effective after 30-minute developing time. This can be increased up to 2 hours for a deeper colour. Our Henné Poudre colours will hide your first grey hair and may cover up to 50% grey hair depending on the selected shade. You can use our colour chart and product information sheet to help you choose your hair colour.

May I lighten my hair with henna hair colours from the Henné Color range?

No, Henné Color henna hair colours are gentle products free from oxidants, the hair fibre is not bleached and its structure is not altered. It is therefore impossible to bleach your hair or lighten its natural colour with this type of hair colouring.

May I darken my natural colour with Henné Color henna hair colours?

Yes, the result will depend on the natural colour of your hair and the chosen colour.  Your natural colour may be 2 or 3 shades darker at most. The colour chart will be of great help in selecting a colour suitable for your original colour. As your hair is made up of different shades of hair, the resulting colour will show natural highlights which will intensify after each application.

How often should I use Henné Color henna hair colours?

These are gentle products free from oxidants, ammonia, p-phenylenediamine (PPD) and resorcinol, so they can be used as often as you need. Colouring your hair every 3 to 4 weeks is ideal and prevents grey regrowth from showing.  It is also possible to colour your roots only in between two full head colours.

When should I shampoo my hair when using Henné Color henna hair colours?

It is best to shampoo your hair before applying Henné Color henna hair colour. The hair is then clean and free of residues and substances which could reduce the adherence of the colour. After having applied the colour and left it for the appropriate time, simply rinse your hair with warm water until it runs clear. You may shampoo your hair the following day if needed. The colouring results will be enhanced when using our gentle shampoos which are formulated without silicone. Silicones leave a residue on the hair fibre and prevent the colour from adhering to the hair fibre.

May I colour my eyelashes and eyebrows with Henné Color henna colours?

No, our henna colours must only be used for colouring hair.

How do Henné Color henna hair colours work?

The Henné Color henna hair colours are gentle products. The colour is deposited on the hair and fixed to the hair fibre. The structure of the hair is not altered. Our hair colours have been formulated with fewer chemicals that are aggressive for your hair and have been enriched with antioxidants which sheathes the hair. The active ingredients in our hair colours will reinforce the hair fibre instead of weakening it. Their regular use can benefit the hair and scalp. Our hair colours can be used as and when needed.

Should I do a sensitivity test with Henné Color henna hair colours?

All Henné Color hair colours are formulated to protect the hair fibre and scalp. Our hair colours are free from oxidants, parabens, p-phenylenediamine (PPD) and resorcinol. They are particularly suitable for people with an allergy to p-phenylenediamine (PPD). However, as sensitivity to different products is very personal, an allergic reaction may occur. A sensitivity test 48 hours before colouring your hair is recommended. Please refer to the instructions provided in the box.

Our hair colour must only be used on hair. External use only. Do not dye eyelashes or eyebrows.

When should I avoid using Henné Color henna hair colours?

If your sensitivity test is positive.

If you have a scalp injury, inflammation or dermatitis. Hair colours should only be used on a healthy scalp.

Immediately after a perm, a chemical colouring, straightening or any intervention which is aggressive to the hair. 2 to 4 weeks must be allowed between the original intervention and colouring with henna.

Why must I emulsify my hair colour before rinsing?

Emulsifying the hair colour consists in wetting the hair with clean water and gently massaging the hair and scalp (for approximately 2 minutes) before rinsing. This step helps clean the scalp and better fix the colour.

Why should I wear gloves when applying the hair colour?

The aim of the hair colour is to colour. Wearing gloves will protect your skin and your nails from absorbing the colour. Clothes must also be protected.

Why should I wear a cap after applying the hair colour?

With a cap, the colour is better absorbed into the hair. Cling-film can also be used. The colouring effect can be further improved by using a warm towel on the cap or the cling-film.

It is also possible to colour your roots only in between 2 full head colours or use our henna Colour Revival Treatments which will reload colour into the hair fibre.

Can I mix different shades of Henné Color henna hair colours?

Henné Color hair colours will result in a customised colour as it depends on your current hair colour and unique highlights. However, Henné Poudre products can be mixed together. Henné Crème products can also be mixed to one another. This allows you to create your own colour according to your desires and fashion.

Are Henné Color hair colours compatible with chemical dyes?

Our henna from India or Egypt has been carefully selected and controlled.  Our henna has been processed for easier application and optimised colouring results. Free from heavy metals, our henna is compatible with chemical dyes. However, the chemical dye, by modifying the hair structure, is much more aggressive for your hair. It is therefore recommended to wait 2 to 4 weeks before applying henna colours to chemically dyed hair to allow your hair to recover.

My hands or clothes have been stained by the hair colour, what should I do?

You should wear gloves and protect your clothing when applying hair colours. In case of accidental staining when using hair colours, wash as soon as possible with soapy water to prevent the colour from setting. You can also protect your hairline with an oily cream which will act as a screen for the skin.

The resulting colour is not what I expected, I need further information on using the product.
